Sculptural Schefflera Arboricola (Compact Leaf) | Pre-Wired Sculptural Umbrella Plant | Indoor Tree

$50.00
A compact-leaf Schefflera arboricola that arrives pre-wired to guide the trunk into a sculptural curve as the plant grows.

This form of Schefflera arboricola has smaller, denser leaves and a tighter growth habit, making it especially well suited for bonsai-style or sculptural training.

The wire is part of the training process and helps the trunk set into shape while it is still flexible.

Wire timing:
Leave the wire on for about 6 weeks (rewire until fully lignified, if desired). Check the trunk periodically and remove sooner if you notice the trunk swelling. Be *extremely* gentle when unwiring.

Trunk color:
You may notice brown areas forming on the trunk. This is normal and desirable. Schefflera stems start green and gradually lignify (harden into wood) as they mature. The brown coloration indicates the trunk is strengthening and beginning to hold its shape. You will likely notice this process at the bend of the trunk soonest.

Care basics:
• Bright indoor light. Use directional light to your advantage
• Allow soil to partially dry between waterings
• New growth emerges from the tip while the trunk thickens over time

Notes:
Each plant is individually wired by hand, so trunk shape will vary slightly. Minor leaf movement during shipping is normal. Roughly 16" tall from the soil line, shipped in a nursery pot. Your plant may or may not include a stake for stability. Planter not included.
